  • Millbrook’s site in Bedfordshire, UK also hailed as the ‘Proving Ground of the Year’

Millbrook is delighted to announce that it has received two prestigious awards that were published today. Millbrook is the winner of the Company of the Year accolade as well as scooping the award for Proving Ground of the Year, in the highly respected Automotive Testing Technology International Awards 2017.

The publication was launched in 1998 has become one of the leading magazines covering stories in the fields of vehicle reliability, durability, safety, quality, NVH, and dynamics testing and evaluation.

John Thornton, editor, Automotive Testing International, said of Millbrook’s success in the awards: "The sheer size and scope of key investments, improvements, acquisitions and partnerships made by Millbrook, not only to better service its Bedfordshire facility, but also in support of the wider Group business, in the last 12 months are incredibly impressive. The company has shown real ambition to cement itself as a truly world-class provider of vehicle test and validation services in the automotive industry. That ambition and its realization should be recognized and celebrated, which is why Millbrook has been selected not only for the Proving Ground of the Year award but also for the overall Company of the Year accolade. Both titles are fully deserved. Congratulations, Millbrook!"

Alex Burns, President of Millbrook, said: “We are very pleased to receive these awards and I would like to thank all of our staff for making this achievement possible.  To have won Company of the Year is recognition of the benefits we are already deriving from becoming part of Spectris plc; a move which has enabled us to continue with our ambitious plans for growth, accelerating capital investment and international expansion. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of vehicle test and validation.”

Millbrook has invested in its people and facilities to ensure that customers have easy access to the support and testing they need, whatever, and wherever, the programme. In 2017 the company acquired another site in the UK, Leyland, - specialising in commercial vehicle testing, - and continued to grow its tyre and vehicle winter testing business in Finland, Test World. Partnerships with companies in other geographies also enable our customers to simplify the procurement of services and accelerate development.

Speaking of Millbrook’s world-famous proving ground in Bedfordshire, Alex Burns said: “In the last 12 months we have invested both in our test tracks and in the laboratories to increase capacity and extend the capabilities to meet customer demand across all service streams. From offering more workshops to customers on the site and placing emphasis on real driving emissions (RDE) to testing batteries, high-performance engines, and passive and active safety systems including ADAS, - these are just some of the areas which have benefitted from investment and innovation at Millbrook.”

Millbrook will continue to help improve and speed up the development of traditional powertrains and safety features on vehicles which largely rely on human control. Increasingly, this will be done alongside the testing of connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs), batteries and e-machines. The company already offers a range of capabilities in these areas, and is investing to provide the full suite of test services and infrastructure.
