M1 A6

7th February 2018

This project is a major infrastructure project to go east from the M1 J11A towards the A6 to improve access and open up employment and housing land north of Luton.

The project was approved for funding by SEMLEP in the 2015 and 2016 rounds of Local Growth Fund but due to the size of the scheme, the funding has to be approved by the Department for Transport Secretary of State.

The full business case was submitted to the Department for Transport in May 2021 and an outcome is expected later this summer. If approved, the scheme would start on site in Autumn 2021.

The Full Business Case and other associated documents are available to view here.
