Work Mate Mentoring

1st November 2019

Work Mate Mentoring introduces YMCA residents aged 19 to 24 to a range of volunteer guests from the world of work, creating conversations about experiences of work. These conversations improve career awareness, stimulate career aspirations and develop vital communications skills and confidence. Which as a result, leads young people to find and secure employment.

This is achieved through:

  • a series of ‘Career WorkOut’ sessions, giving young people the opportunity to ask guests about their experiences of the world of work
  • one-to-one coaching sessions
  • one-to-one Mentoring sessions with particular employees/employers who the young person has become acquainted with through the ‘Career WorkOut’ sessions and coaching sessions
