Showcase Sector: Cultural & Creative

The creative industries are worth more than £87bn in GVA to the UK and have a strong presence in the South East Midlands. Milton Keynes has the second highest proportion of SMEs in the high-tech and digital sectors and is also home to the internationally prominent Smart City programme, MK:Smart, led by the Open University, in partnership with BT and Milton Keynes Council. Investment in the creative and cultural sector is also important in strengthening the area’s visitor economy.

This sector group focuses on identifying strategic issues and encouraging investment to build on opportunities and strengths of the sector, and ensuring the high-quality promotion of the South East Midlands to enhance the visitor economy.
