The Government awarded a total of £265million to the South East Midlands LEP (SEMLEP) area from 2015 to 2021 for capital projects to support growth. The Local Growth Fund (LGF) provided investment to projects that benefit the local area and economy in line with the Economic Strategy of the time.

Over 50 projects have been delivered and by April 2022, only £1.69m remains to be spent on 2 projects at the tail of the programme. You can read more about the projects and their progress and impact on the pages on this website.
The SEMLEP Board is responsible for the fund and they ensure that the funds are spent properly. To learn more about how decisions were made and how the money is monitored, please read SEMLEP's Assurance Framework.

Following the Government’s Levelling Up White Paper published in February 2022, future capital growth funds will be delivered through the local authorities rather than Local Enterprise Partnerships so we do not anticipate delivering further capital projects or bidding rounds for funding at this time but will work with our local authority partners to support their application for funds.

Evaluation

In March 2021, South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) appointed Focus Consultants to undertake a programme level evaluation of the South East Midlands Local Growth Fund programme to articulate the impact of the programme on the South East Midlands area but also to learn the lessons and identify areas of learning for future delivery.

Take a look at the evaluation to read about the economic impact, outcomes, key findings and more.
