SEMLEP handpicked to attend World Economic Forum

16 October 2013

SEMLEP Chief Executive Daniel Charles Mouawad represented the South East Midlands this month at the world’s largest economic development international conference.

Daniel was handpicked to speak at the International Economic Development Council / World Economic Forum (WEF) event and flew out to America earlier this month to present on model economic partnerships to delegates in Philadelphia.

At a second event Daniel was asked, as an industry expert, to provide input into WEF’s working paper and make a positive impact on the Forum’s City Competitiveness agenda.

Daniel commentated: “This was a collaborative process that provided a unique opportunity to introduce fresh ideas on competitiveness among experts in the field.

“SEMLEP is attentive to the World Economic Forum’s mission to strengthen and inform global networks and to connect thought leaders in industry, government, and academia in order to foster dialogue leading to meaningful and positive change in the world.”

Drawing on his international experience from across North America, Europe and Asia, Daniel assisted in reviewing pioneering initiatives being implemented in cities and identifying centres of excellence.

Daniel added: “The goal is to do something truly useful that will assist key stakeholders and decision makers promoting healthy sustainable cities.”

The World Economic Forum is an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.
