Envoys make an impact

10 December 2014

Hal Reisiger from Cosworth presents at SEMLEP's AGM and networking reception

The SEMLEP Envoy programme is gathering momentum, with our cohort of influential business leaders from a variety of industry sectors now promoting the benefits of local economic growth in the South East Midlands.

Our 17 Envoys are enthusiastic advocates of the opportunities and relationships within industry and Government that can be leveraged by SEMLEP as a result of the success of its businesses.

This year our Envoys have been instrumental in the following activities:

  • Providing public support for the SEMLEP Strategic Economic Plan submission
  • Promoting the South East Midlands automotive sector to international investors
  • Forming the SEMLEP Banking Forum, made up of regional directors from UK banks who come together to support SEMLEP in delivering business support to promote local economic growth
  • Promoting our Velocity business support programme to their clients and supply chains
  • Utilising peer knowledge to support a successful Regional Growth Fund application for Hayward Tyler
  • Supporting the SEMLEP Logistics event, as a result of which SEMLEP is making representations to Government about the need for more trained and qualified drivers for Heavy Goods Vehicles.

Our SEMLEP Envoys come from the following companies: Abbeygate Developments, Barclays, Brackmills BID, Cosworth, EMW, Fujifilm, General Motors, Hayward Tyler, HomeRetail Group, ICAEW, Lockheed Martin, Lloyds Banking,  Mazars, PwC, Prodrive, Santander and Unilever.
