We, along with five neighbouring Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs), are organising the one day ‘Driving Technological Change’ event on July 2nd, which will welcome international inward investors to the circuit and is set to attract many of the biggest names in the industry.

Compering this event will be Joe Greenwell, CEO of the Automotive Investment Organisation and Former Chairman of Ford.

Richard Phillips, SEMLEP Director and Managing Director of Silverstone Holdings Ltd, said: “What a fitting start to the Grand Prix and a real coup to have so many industry leaders all gathering on the eve of the biggest event of our year. This event will give businesses from across the UK’s Motorsport Valley a unique opportunity to meet and network with world leaders and to share information on the latest cutting edge technology trends.”

Daniel Mouawad, Chief Executive of SEMLEP, added: “The UK is in pole position in the super-fast, technology-driven world of motorsport and we are well placed in the Motorsport Valley, an area at the heart of the country with the UK’s largest concentration of motorsport firms, which ensures we are bursting with companies whose precision engineering and advanced technology skills are increasingly transferred to the mainstream automotive industry.

“We are delighted to be holding this unique event which will enable businesses to meet, discuss and debate with many of the world’s leading companies and experts which in turn will better equip them when facing their own industry challenges.”

The South East Midlands, a patch made up of Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Milton Keynes, Cherwell District and Aylesbury Vale District, is home to over 1,500 high performance technology companies which employs over 21,000 people and specialises in the design and manufacture of innovative technologies applied to engines.

‘Driving Technological Change’ is an all-day event exclusively for the high performance technology centre. It is being organised by SEMLEP, Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership (NEP), Buckinghamshire Thames Valley LEP, Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP), Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership and Coventry & Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
