Meet our Made in England finalists

19 May 2015

Four companies based in the South East Midlands have been shortlisted for a prestigious Made in the East & Central England Award, organised by Insider Media in partnership with South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP).

The companies, from Aylesbury, Bedford and Northampton, have beaten off stiff competition to make it to the final, with judges impressed by each of the company’s expertise, innovation and manufacturing prowess.

Arla Foods, which has a one-billion litre fresh milk dairy based in Aylesbury, has been shortlisted for both the Food and Drink category and Large Manufacturing Company of the Year.

Bedford-based Automated Technologies Group has been shortlisted for the Apprenticeship and Training Scheme award.

Two Northampton based companies, PaintCraft plc and GE Precision Engineering are up for the SME Manufacturing Company of the Year award, while PaintCraft plc has also been shortlisted for the Innovation award.

The winners will be announced at a special ceremony to be held in Bedford on 1st June. All of the winners will then represent the region in the national finals, to be held in Liverpool later this year.

Daniel Mouawad, Chief Executive of SEMLEP, said: “These awards, which SEMLEP is delighted to support for the second year running, are designed to showcase the broad range of products and services made locally. This gives us the opportunity to recognise and reward those companies that are continually investing and innovating for the benefit of their customers, stakeholders and the wider UK economy.

“Many of the categories slot perfectly into the sectors which play to the real manufacturing strengths of some of the South East Midlands sharpest and brightest business brains.”
