We are delighted to announce Cheryl Smart MBE as the new SME Board Champion on our Board. Cheryl is the Chief Executive of the Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce and is aiming to enhance further the voice of business at the Board table.

Cheryl says, "A majority of the SEMLEP Board are from the private sector but we need to work even harder to listen to businesses and then take those views into SEMLEP’s planning for the future.  We have been pleased to see more Local Growth Fund going to local SMEs but we need to ensure all SEMLEP activities are aimed at growing businesses in number and size.  I am particularly keen to see more businesses connecting internationally."

"Smaller businesses don't always have a big enough voice. I'm here to help that." Cheryl adds.

You can contact Cheryl directly via email on cheryl.smart@chamber-business.com or, to find out more about the role and how it will work, please contact Judith Barker,  Programme and Assurance Manager at SEMLEP.
