Aylesbury Garden Town Vision 2050

31 October 2019

Aylesbury Garden Town (AGT) has today published its Garden Town 2050 Vision document showing how future developments in Buckinghamshire’s county town will take place with an emphasis on green space, improving public transport links and creating communities with unique characteristics.

This Vision has been realised through the support of the local community, organisations and businesses. They told us what they see as the big challenges facing Aylesbury and their feedback has helped identify eight key ambitions which will drive improvements to the town and help us transform the AGT area over the next 30 years.

It has been prepared to help residents, businesses, investors and developers to understand the Garden Town, its aims and ambitions. At its heart sits a deep desire to create an Aylesbury for everyone as we build on the unique legacy of Aylesbury as the birthplace of the Paralympic Games. Our ambitions are bold, as we prioritise space for walkers and cyclists encouraging healthier and more sustainable journey choices as an alternative to car use.

Cllr. Clive Harriss, Deputy Chairman of Aylesbury Garden Town said “The publication of our Vision 2050 marks an important milestone in the journey to realise Aylesbury Garden Town. The partnership has embraced a set of ambitions that build on Aylesbury’s exiting heritage, strengths and opportunities as a garden town.”

“It will realise a place that is renowned for its inclusivity and high quality of life for everyone and a place for business to grow and flourish. It will influence the future of Aylesbury and guide our partnership with our local community and stakeholders to ensure an Aylesbury that is greener, more inclusive, vibrant and prosperous.”

The Vision will be accompanied by a more detailed Masterplan which explains how the AGT Vision will be delivered through a comprehensive and co-ordinated town-wide plan. The Masterplan is an advisory and guidance framework, that will inform decision making in the future. Our Draft Masterplan has been prepared and will be available for public consultation for four weeks from Monday 6 January 2020.
