Responsible Business Practices

In 2018, Watsons & Cox Construction Ltd worked alongside Northampton's Kingsthorpe College year 13 business students, assisting their learning about responsible business practices and business planning.

The Watson & Cox team delivered a presentation and Q&A. Following this, students visited their offices and various department heads gave them an overview of their responsibilities and operations. 

The aim was to give students a real-life understanding of the business and the operations and management techniques used to run a successful, responsible business.  

Topics covered include company values, barriers to responsible business practices, the consequences of not acting responsibly and demonstrating how Waston & Cox operate responsibly. 

"We hope that our efforts engaging with students will encourage them to consider either our company or our industry in the future."

Feedback from the college is that students gained consistently higher grades when working with Watson & Cox than on other assignments they complete in the classroom.

Watson & Cox promotes our traineeships and apprenticeships in all disciplines where we have suitable mentors. We provide additional support to young people via scholarships, workshops and training programmes, focusing on employment readiness and construction careers opportunities.
