Careers & Enterprise employer engagement event

28 October 2016

Over 20 people from local schools, colleges and businesses gathered at Mark Rutherford School in October to explore the topic 'What Employer Engagement Looks Like in Practice'.

Representatives from several of our partner schools mingled with some of our new and prospective Enterprise Advisers.

Following an introduction from our Enterprise Coordinator, Peter Rayner, Sam Baker from Mark Rutherford School gave an outline of the benefits employer engagement has given to the school and its students.

This was followed by presentations from Simon Naylor and Tony Rice, who are both members of the Bedford School’s Business Partnership, to give the benefits from an employer and training organisation viewpoint.

Ellie Marcham then explained how Bedford Borough Council are keen to support school/employer engagement and how the Enterprise Adviser Network can assist in bringing this together. Finally, Ray Farrow, who is an Enterprise Adviser in Northamptonshire shared his experience of working with a school in one of the pilot areas for the programme.

One of his key messages was that he has not found one single person involved in the Northamptonshire network who does not think the programme is a good thing for both schools and businesses.
