LGF £17m successfully invested

We’re delighted to confirm that £17million was successfully disbursed to Local Growth Fund projects across the SEMLEP region last year (2016/17). The monies have initiated important infrastructure projects across our area, vital to our continued growth and development.  

Highlighted successes for this LGF year include:

  • Completion of the access arrangements to Bletchley station improving safety for all and facilitating the wider regeneration of the town – completing shortly
  • Opening of Daventry Campus of Northampton College in February 2017
  • The Bolt Tightening ceremony at the Chartmoor road site of the Leighton Buzzard Skills and Construction centre in January 2017 with opening planned for summer 2017
  • Completion of the road surface of Woodside Link to allow access ahead of the opening of M1 A5 link to J11A on M1 with a cycle event in December 2016
  • Control Tower opening at Cranfield University for MUEAVI in March 2017
  • Start on site for the new teaching facilities for doctors at MK Hospital in November 2016
  • Start on site with access for I-WORX near Wootton on A421 in March 2017
  • Site clearance and foundations at Millbrook for the HGV testing and development centre underway, phase 1 completion due in spring summer 2017.
  • Vulcan Ironworks development underway in Northampton with the University as anchor tenants for leather works.
  • Agreement on a funding package for A421 dualling and release for development money to facilitate the development in 17/18 and beyond.

Work is now well underway to continue the Local Growth Fund programme for 2017/18. Keep an eye out on the LGF section of our website as we re-develop this over the coming weeks to showcase these great projects and partners involved.
