Roads for the future

How do we deliver a world-class road network ready for connected and autonomous vehicles? Today (15th January 2018) the National Infrastructure Commission has launched a competition, in conjunction with Highways England and Innovation UK for ideas to change road design, management and use, to maximise the benefits of connected and autonomous vehicles.  For more information, visit the Innovation Funding Service website 

A share of up to £150,000 is available for 5 feasibility study projects. After successful applicants have completed their projects, the best project will be awarded an additional sum of £50,000.

The competition covers 3 broad themes:

  1. Road design, including road-related infrastructure.
  2. Traffic management.
  3. Road rules and regulations.

Registration closes on Wednesday 7th March 2018 at 12.00pm.
