TeenTech Cities to Milton Keynes

18 December 2018

Want to inspire students about the contemporary world of science, engineering and technology? Good news! TeenTech is coming to Milton Keynes this July 11th, 2019.

The TeenTech event gives students and teachers the opportunity to try their hand at experiments, to handle leading edge technology and, most importantly, to spend time with the engineers, technologists and scientists who influence their 21st-centurylives.

Its a powerful intervention just before students make GCSE subject choices, dispelling gender stereotypes and shifting perceptions of careers teenagers may have considered “difficult”, “geeky” or “boring”.

The event will be split into three zones of activity:

  • Insight Zone - provides young people with a series of short, employer-led activities to surface skills and raise awareness of the range of careers available in STEM.
  • Challenge Zone - provides young people with longer challenges helping them to develop problem-solving and creative skills using science and technology.
  • Innovation Zone - provides young people with the opportunity to develop their own ideas for a physical invention or gadget to make life better, simpler, safer or more fun. Each team is asked to present their work in a 60 second pitch, helping develop confidence in presentation skills and sharing ideas with a group.
