Peter Horrocks CBE


Chair, SEMLEP

Peter Horrocks CBE is the Chair of SEMLEP, the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership.

Peter is a strong supporter of the ambition for the Oxford Cambridge Arc, the area of England that the government intends will be a world leading example of highly innovative and environmentally sustainable growth.

Peter is a member of the Arc Leadership Group, the gathering of local authority and business leaders that is guiding the development of plans for the Arc.

SEMLEP is the public private partnership that brings together businesses, councils, universities, colleges and the third sector in the area of Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes.

Peter is a member of the Content Board of media regulator Ofcom. He Chairs Learna Ltd, a digital education company.

Peter previously has had roles across education and media. He was Vice-Chancellor of The Open University from 2015 until April 2018.

At the BBC, Peter held a number of roles, including being Director of the BBC World Service, editor of Newsnight and Panorama, Head of Current Affairs, Head of TV News and Head of Multimedia News. He won two BAFTA awards for his journalism.

In 2015 Peter he was awarded a CBE for Services to Broadcasting in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
